Wahiba Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid Itinerary

Day 1 lets you experience the cultural sights of the Interior. In the morning you head out to Nizwa where you can wander through the old souk where local Omanis sell their wares. The souk huddles within the shadows of the dominating walls of Nizwa fort. The fort itself offers an insight into what life would have been like for the Omani people a century or more ago. You then head on to the Wahiba sands, travelling across the desert plain to your evening destination. After dropping your bags into your camp you are taken to the top of the dunes to watch an unforgettable sunset, accompanied by drinks of course! You will then  retire back to the camp for the night.

Day 2 starts with a viewing of the desert sunrise, should you chose to get up that early!  After an Arabic style breakfast you will head back through the desert dunes where you will be able to stop at an authentic bedouin dwelling and buy some of the tribal wares. A short distance from the desert, nestling up in the mountains, you will find a small oasis of calm, at Wadi Bani Khalid. This is one of Oman’s most beautiful wadis. You will be able to relax on its rocks and swim in its cool waters, enjoying the surrounding views, before heading back to your Muscat hotel for late afternoon.
