This tour last approximately four hours. You are picked up from your hotel reception at an agreed time by your experience Omani guide. Your tour starts with a visit to the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which is the 4th largest mosque in the world. It has the world’s largest hand-woven carpet containing 1700 million knots and weighs 21 tonnes. The carpet measures 70 x 60 metres and covers 4343 square metres of the praying hall. The Grand Mosque also has the largest chandelier in the world weighing in at 8.5 tonnes. From here you will visit the Natural History Museum where the history of Oman’s flora and fauna are portrayed. There are fossils here which depict that Oman was once a land of monkeys, rhinos, elephants and crocodiles and much more. We take you to Muttrah souq, one of the oldest preserved souqs in Oman. Here you can wander along the corniche or barter with the stall hands for Omani wares. You then visit the Bait al Zubair museum which houses a huge collection of Omani art and cultural exhibits. Concluding the tour is a photo visit to His Majesty’s Al Alam Palace in the old town of Muscat. The Palace is not open to the public, but you are able to take pictures from the outside. We get you back to your hotel for a late lunch.
