Nakhal
This tour is approximately six hours in
length. After being picked up from your Muscat hotel you head north to the
camel farm in Barka where you have the opportunity to go for a short ride
around the farm. Then it’s on to the old village of Abyad. After navigating
your way through the narrow streets of the village the landscape opens up to
reveal a small expanse of desert dunes. Here you will experience some dune
bashing driven by your experienced off road driver. After this thrilling drive
you go back through the village to Wadi Abyad. The wadi is thought to get its
name from the white calcite pools that are located within it. Sometimes after
the rains there are pools deep enough to swim in. You head to Nakhal for lunch
and a chance to wander around its beautifully restored fort. Within its walls
you have the opportunity to step back in time as the rooms have been replicated
to those of times gone by. From the turrets you can enjoy the spectacular views
towards the Hajar Mountains. After experiencing the rejuvenating properties of
the hot springs located just outside Nakhal it is time to head back to Muscat
and to your hotel where your guide will drop you.
